About Joe Anderson
Originally from Juneau, Alaska, I get the best of both worlds: Alaska and Florida.
I’m going to school to study Air Traffic Management — a dream-come-true. I’m also minoring in Meteorology, Business Administration, and will also have my Airline Dispatch Certificate.
I started working in a multifaceted inn and bakery, The Silverbow, when I was 16. Working there has changed my life; it has given me many new outlooks on myself, other people, and have given me the chance to do something most kids my age could never do.
After high school, I decided to take one year off. I knew what I wanted to do, but I wasn’t ready to do it yet. One year turned into two before I finally applied to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. In July 2008, I packed everything I owned and moved to Daytona Beach, Florida. My mom did the same; she packed up and moved in with my grandparents in Ocala, Florida.
In late-2005, my mom was diagnosed with sarcoma cancer in her hip. After a hip-replacement, leg amputation, and over two years of surviving, she passed in October 2008. I miss her dearly, but am glad to have had the time that I did get to spend with her.
Since then, I have continued to be an incredibly independent, motivated, and hard-working student.
My life revolves around hard work and respect for everyone.
